TER - Transport Express Régional
SNCF established the TER (Transport Express Régional) network in 1984 to provide a framework for managing the regional passenger service.
Enhanced comfort.
The speed, outstanding comfort and affordable prices of the Z-TER have won hearts and minds on the Lille-Dunkirk, Calais-Boulogne and Rennes-Brest lines. The Cannes-Grasse line has been brought back into service in TER colours after a gap of 60 years.
This service aims to relieve rail and road congestion on the French Riviera and provides transport services for 3,000 passengers on a daily basis.
New generation trains now cover more regions, with 86 TER 2N double-deckers, whilst 379 High Capacity Multiple Units (AGCs) have been ordered to revolutionise travelling comfort. Like the TGV, TER trains in six regions are switching to non-smoking.
